Front-End Web Developer

Grey Dog Media is growing and we have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Front-End Web Developer to join our team of talented professionals.

The Front-End Web Developer works across teams to develop a dynamic digital user and brand experience website for a monthly digital publication. This position plays a key role in all phases of website development and testing for our client’s digital publication. In addition, this position ensures the technical alignment of the site to the design, user experience, and creates strategies that scale across platforms.

Job Duties

  • Use CMS and markup languages to develop user-friendly websites to support client needs
  • Shape, implement, and refine web development strategies and processes that scale across platforms
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual interfaces
  • Ensure technical feasibility of site and UX designs
  • Craft solutions for layout issues across multiple browsers and mobile devices
  • Responsible for delivering successful project outcomes, listening to and understanding what matters to our clients
  • Submit completed assignments for approval and re-work as directed until work has met client expectations. (note: this may be in contrast to your personal taste)
  • Attend and participate in brainstorming sessions and report on work progress
  • Remain up to date on trends and emerging platforms including insights into cultural trends and target audiences
  • Work in a collaborative manner to meet client deadlines
  • Efficiently manage the workflow of assigned projects
  • Record and track your time within the payroll system for each project you are working on
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in web development, computer science, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Minimum: Three (3) years of professional experience as front-end developer and/or digital user interface/web design
  • Strong coding skills and proficiency in (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) including experience with GIT version control, web page versioning/source control and CMS
  • Solid understanding of basic SEO and website optimization
  • Experience with one or more of the following a plus: JavaScript frameworks, including React and Vue, RESTful Services and API’s, Craft CMS and the Twig templating engine, tailwind CSS, object-oriented CSS, and designing, developing, and maintaining design systems and component libraries
  • Strong portfolio of work demonstrating proficiency in skill and a sophisticated sense of style and design
  • Demonstrated understanding of usability and human-user interaction principles and their application to website development, information architecture and content management across multiple web browsers and devices
  • Possess an outstanding combination of collaboration and creative technical skills
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Understanding of responsive web design, web maintenance and best practices
  • Able to adapt skills to the aesthetics of each project
  • Take ownership of assignments and see them through to completion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with high attention to detail
  • Highly motivated with ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and desire to work on a collaborative team with high standards
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills; able to balance multiple priorities and demands simultaneously
  • Maintains a positive attitude, even while working under pressure in an environment where job demands are constantly changing
